The dominant characteristic of the conferencecentre is its multi-functional hall. Like a nucleus this space islocated at the centre.

The building is organised in a demonstrativelysimple way: the entrance area is at the centre, opposite the OfficeSoutheast, in the east. All deliveries (enclosed) with a functionaltrack are made in the west, on Olympiaring. The conference area is tothe left of the entrance, in the south as there it can also beentered from outside. The Food Court is located to the right of theentrance towards the north so that it can integrate the landscapereference to the WOS Campus.
For the tripartite multi-function hall we departedfrom what is probably the obvious principle, the rectangle. The formdeveloped for this core allows three individual halls, each with adifferent spatial configuration that gives it an identity, but also alarge hall to which the same applies. Here we want to give thecentral space the Adidas brand identity!
All the other meeting and workshop rooms as well as the VIP rooms, the display kitchen and the Brand Induction Room are grouped on a gallery level around this centre of brand identity.
As regards the Food Court restaurant, the secondcore of this building, it was important to us to make tangible acharacteristic of the landscape that, although probably hardlyperceptible, is all the more important: the slope of the site, whichis slight but nevertheless along its length amounts to around one anda half metres. From this slope we developed gentle terraces and drewthem, condensed, inside the building. This avoid the impression ofsome kind of mass feeding facility, on the contrary it gives you thefeeling that you are sitting outside on vineyard or rice terraces onthe slope....
Our project is marked by a striking steel roof that spans across the building. In contrast to this steel structure, other volumes are deliberately massively constructed, such as the events hall where the solid construction enables the acoustic properties of the space to be optimised.
The roof spans up to 35m without intermediate columns and at many places projects beyond the facade. The structure is a grid of welded hollow sections. The height of the beams varies between 400 and 700mm
The axes of the beams follow the form of thebuilding, they are oriented on the curved facade but also as on thecentral tract, the area of the Brand Induction Room. The distancebetween the beams is optimised by means of numerical algorithm sothat the grid of beams not only follows the geometry but alsoresponds to the structural demands. In the wide-spanning areas of theroof the beams are closer together, which strengthens the structure, while in areas with lesser spans the distance between the beams isgreater.
